The Farens' dwellings are at the southernmost tip of Ilisthmira. They live in stone caves that were hollowed out over the years by applying intense heat to the walls, blackening them to the same color as the sooty ground. Most caves are only meant for one or two Farens, but some of the older ones can hold quite a few wolves at once. The soil here is rocky and black, unable to sustain any form of plant life. The color comes from the soot and ashes that constantly fall from the large volcano, around which all the caves are located. The volcano towers overhead, always either letting out a rush of lava or spouting out ashes. Though the Farens are used to it, outsiders would find the ashy air hard to breathe. Some small animals can be found around here, and the occasional puddle of rainwater, but other than that this place is devoid of any water or living creature besides the wolves.

desert

The western part of the Farens' land consists of desert and dry canyonlands. The rolling hills of sand seem to never end, with only a few features to break the monotony: rock formations, trees and cacti, and if you're lucky an oasis. Mostly in the south there are some large cliffs of stone and gorges that form a ridge of canyons; many animals lurk in the dark crevices, relishing the shelter from the sun's blaze. The western part of the desert extends out of the Farens' claims and form part of the Market. The rest of this territory is an arid, relatively empty sea of sand. The Farens know how to find prey and water, and can also navigate skillfully; strangers to these parts would most likely find themselves hopelessly lost. The Farens must be careful at night, however, when the temperature drops rapidly. If they can't find a way to keep warm, they will die quickly.

The sun is bright and heavy here in the savanna. Large water holes attract many animals, so one must be careful when approaching for a drink, for even Farens need some water to survive. However, during the dry season - which lasts for many months - most of the drinking holes dry up. Tall grasses cover the land, good for camoflauging the many predators that lurk here. There are also many trees, though they are spaced far apart in random patches. This is where the most food and water can be found throughout all the Farens' territory, but it is also the most dangerous because there are so many other predators.

farens
In the southernmost part of Ilisthmira lies the arid land of the Farens. A stifling heat permeates every part of this territory of parched canyonlands and endless desert; shade and water are rare. Prey is abundant, though hard to find unless you know where to look. Most outsiders would quickly die in this harsh, unforgiving environment, but the Farens are perfectly suited for it.
